JJ's Playground

JJ recently got a new playground at Poppa and Grandma's house. Jerret and his dad found this beauty on-line and put it together for JJ. He loves it so much and gets upset, sometimes crying, when it is time to go inside.

We recently had another one of his post-adoption meetings with the social worker, and his 2-year check up with the doctor. The little boy who wasn't even on the charts a year ago is now 36-inches tall and in the 90% for his age. He weighs 32 lbs and is in the 80% percentile. I guess sneaking scoops of formula into his food until he was 18 months old was worth it! I just hope he continues growing at this pace. He is still saying "no" to everything and doesn't understand the difference between yes and no. So we have lots of fun asking questions like "JJ, do you want a million dollars?" because he always answers "Nooooo." He is so smart and will do anything we ask him to.

Here is a picture in poppa's truck that he is going to re-finish. We call it Mater because it looks like the real Tow-Mater truck from Cars.

JJ's New Love

JJ has a new obsession to add to his list - Cars (you know, the movie). My in-laws have the DVD and whenever we are over there JJ insists on watching it and will sit through the entire thing if we let him. His favorite (and not so favorite) part of the movie is when Mater and Lightning McQueen go "tractor tipping." JJ is so frightened by this part that he will cling to the nearest person and begin shaking as the poor tractors are scared awake and then tip backwards. When playing with his John Deere tractors at home he puts them on their backside with wheels in the air, just like in the movie.

Happy 2nd Birthday JJ!

It seems like just yesterday that we brought him home, and now our little guy has turned 2! We celebrated with a party over at grandma and grandpa's house. (Thanks to all of our friends and family that came over to hang with us!)

Along with turning 2, JJ also hit another milestone this weekend - his first trip to the ER! The night before his big day he was playing in the living room and fell, hitting his eye on the corner of the coffee table. The table hit the inside corner of his eye and immediately turned purple and swollen, with a cut on the lower lash line. The fact that it turned purple so fast is what scared me most, so off to the ER we went. I was nearly in tears and could barely look at the poor kid (reason #2 I could never be a doctor). Jerret was able to remain calm and handled the situation well. He says that I panic too much and I need to step back from situations like that. He's right. I don't know what I would have done if I had been home alone! You can' t really see his eye in any of the pictures, but I assure you, it was not looking good!
